Agenda:
1) Conflict Notes

2) Open Response Prompt - Choose one of the three prompts to apply to the book Chains.  Due at the end of class Monday. (We will be in the computer lab Monday!)

One writer described courage as: “When you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway, and you see it through no matter what.” From our reading this trimester, choose one character who, according to this definition, displayed courage. Give two specific examples from our reading to support your answer and explain why each example fits this definition of courage.

Similar themes, morals, or messages can be idntified in completely separate works of literature. Choose a theme, moral or message which appears in the book Chains. State what the teme, moral or message is and use textual evidence from each literary work to explain how that message is communicated. Two examples are what you should aim for.

Authors employ symbols for any number of reasons. From the book Chains explain two symbols and what they represent. Then explain their importance to the book with specific references and textual evidence.
