Today's Class and Tonight's Homework

Agenda:
1) Warm-Up: Answer the following questions on pgs7-8 of your Interactive NB
     a) What does the quote at the beginning of Chpater I mean? What is the "seed time" of something?
     b) What do you think it means that Ruth has a "peculiar manner of being" and is "simple"?
     c) What's the difference between an indentured servant and a slave?

2)Read on - Chapters 7-11, pgs.36-75

HW -  Please complete the following in your Interactive NB:
  **Make sure the following Characters are listed on your Character page with a brief character  
  description: Isabel, Ruth, Miss Mary Finch, Mr. Robert Finch, Curzon, Master Elihu Lockton,

  **Go back into your reading and find 4 examples of figurative language (ex: personification, simile, metaphor) and begin noting these on pg.1 in your NB
