Week of September 5-8, 2017

Tuesday 

Objective:To understand the purpose of conversation in the classroom, how talk can be used as a tool!


1) Binder Set Up - the tabs needed for your binder are as follows: Materials, Word Work,  Notes, Writing, Research


2) Journal Prompt - Who is the best superhero? Batman or Superman?


3)Accountable Talk Directions Sheet


4) Accountable Talk at tables with discussion prompt handout.


Homework - *Reminders* keep collecting sticky notes to bring in, we will use a lot of these these this year!  If you have not got your hands on a notebook to use for journaling please do so this week. Lastly, make sure you have an independent reading book with you at all times, everyday in school.  Your team of teachers love the independent reading program we established a few years ago so be ready to read everyday! :-) 


Wednesday 


1) Revisit your journal prompt in preparation for our talk!


2)  Accountable Talk - Yarn speaking tool


3) Word Work Instructions - DUE EVERY WEDNESDAY!


4) Begin in class/Finish for HW - Choose ONE:  Write me a letter telling me more about yourself. (WHat makes you YOU, interests, things I need to know)  OR ABC's of Me activity.  Due in class tomorrow



Thursday 


Warm-Up:  Accountable Talk Reflection


1) Quill.org Introduction - Using your google sign-in info I will show you the simple grammar program we will use this year.  If absent, please go to the site, LOGIN with google and complete the "then, than" challenge.


2)  Parts of A Book Notes - Today we will discuss and take notes as we review Plot.


HW - Independent Reading Book for tomorrow's class!!


Friday - ABSENT TODAY!


As mentioned yesterday, I am not here today BUT you were shown everything you need in order to be successful in class today :-)


Half the class time - work on your Quill.org activity challenges

Second half of class time - Independent Reading - be on the radar for words for your word work!!!
