Week of September 11 - 15

Objective: To familiarize ourselves with the comprehension strategy known as "Dialoging With The Text" and attempt to start trying it on our own.

Monday 
Agenda:
1.) Journal Write - "What does the world need most?"  
2.) Dialoging With The Text Activity - Over the course of the school I will be teaching comprehension stratgies that we can apply to our many readings of the year.  Today, "Dialoging With Our Text" was introduced by using the opening parapgraph of the oshort story "The Open Window" by Saki

3.) Begin reading "The Man In The Black Suit" by: Stephen King as a class today

 Homework: First Word Work due Wednesday!


Tuesday
Agenda: 
1.)  Warm- Up:  World War....what do you know about it?  What do you THINK you know?!
2.)  Continue reading "The Man In The Black Suit" by Stephen King
3.) Literary Terms + Questions Sheet

Homework :  Word Word Due tomorrow, Questions sheet due Thursday 



Wednesday - Half Day

3.) Mini-Lesson - Showing vs Telling Sentences video

HW:           Telling Sentences

Choose one of the "telling" sentences below that you want to make into a "showy" sentence.  Write the best sentence you can on a piece of computer paper (8 1/2 x 11) held horizontally.  Then illustrate the sentence on the paper.
