Objective: To continue in our journey through The Diary of Anne Frank and our characterization work.
1.) Holocaust Poetry Analysis - I will model how to analyze the poems given to you in class today using the poem "First They Came" by: Pastor Martin Niemoller. The direction sheet given to you will be used for ALL Holocaust Poems over the next 3 school days so there should be no questions about how your poem analysis packet is to be completed ;-) After I model "how to" you will apply the directions to your first poem "1980" by:Avrom Sutzkever. Please answer all questions ON THE BACK of the poem.

How have the changed/evolved from the start of our reading? What's causing the changes in your opinion? What do you think about these relationships?

Today's Class and Tonight's Homework - Monday, January 23, 2017
Agenda:
Objective - To dive deeper into the world of Anne Frank.
1) Warm-Up: If your class did not finish Act I on Monday, take the first 5 minutes of class to read the rest silently to yourself.
2) Quick Journal Reminder - Please make sure that if your journal prompt directions say "minimum of 1 page of writing" that you are producing at least the 1 page. Students are losing credit for not meeting the requirements of the directions!

Here are the directions for class today, if you did not complete these journals in class they need to be finished for homework. Number these diary entries #2, #3, & #4.
Homework: Finish journals BUT with a catch :-) SELFIE-CHALLENGE!! Take a selfie of yourself with your completed homwork with a creative hashtag, you will be awarded 5 bonus points for this. If you finished your journals in class then take the time to independently read for 20 minutes this weekend. Take a selfie of yourself including the last page you read with a creative hashtag! 5 points will be awarded as well. Can't wait to see your selfies!!
