1) Got Your Rough Draft? - You need a hard copy of your rough draft printed out for class today.
2) Edit - Self + Peer Edit Activity
3) Chrome Book - Once you've discussed your edits with your editor you may begin to revise your open response, moving towards a final draft to submit.

1) Hand in "Chains"

Objective: To understand the life of Edgar Allan Poe in order to fully understand his work.  Over the next two weeks, we will be evaluating the influence that an author's life has on their work.

Agenda:

1) K(now)W(ant to know)L(earned) activity

2) Webquest - 4-day activity with a culminating group project to show knowledge about Poe in a creative way!  DUE at the end of class on Friday!


3) Agenda Books


Homework: Continue your research component of your WebQuest.  Make sure you have enough info for your group where your topics are concerned.


Wednesday
1) Mini-Lesson: Easy bib
2) Present your Poe facts to your group members.
3) Commit to a project style.
4) Begin project work!

HW - Project, Finish your Works Cited via easybib.

Thursday
Work....Work...Work....POE PROJECT!!

HW - Project and print a copy of your Works Cited to hand in during class tomorrow.

Objective: to analyze the roles of bravery and courage in the book "Chains" by Laurie Halse-Anderson     to identify symbols in the book "Chains" and dissect their meaning and role in the book.

Objective:  to analyze direct/indirect characterization through the use os various techniques (audio, visual, hands-on)

Agenda:

Monday 
1) Journal Monday - Reflect on a time when you worked hard or made choices to "earn" something.  (physical/nonphysical)
2) Class read - Chapter 11, Individual read - Chapter 12
3) Update and complete all guided questions Chapter 1 - Chapter 12.

HW - Questions if not complete

Tuesday
1) Table Talk (5min) - Who's your favorite character so far in "Chains"?  What do you hope to learn about your character?
2) While continuing to read, please keep in mind the following: Reading Goal - pg. 140 for class on Friday.
     *completing your guided questions, * collect evidence of indirect characterization for your character sheet, *dialoging in order to collect info/thoughts for our Friday Accountable Talk.

Wednesday
1) EndIT Movement - Video + Discussion
2) "Chains" Questions Catch Up - are your questions in good shape?  Nope?!  Focus your attention on your questions before you dive into your reading for today.
3) Reading....reading....reading.  Continue towards your pg.140 reading goal while keeping your dialoging in mind.

HW - Does it feel like you might not make it to the reading goal?  Read a chapter or two tonight to guarantee you'll hit the goal.

Thursday
1) Characterization Video Warm-Up - Nice reminder about what we should be looking for as you collect evidence of Indirect Characterization (Speech, Thoughts, Effect on Others, Actions, Looks)
2) "Chains" Business - Today is THE day to wrap up your work for the week to prepare for our Accountable Talk tomorrow.  Keep in mind the following - pg.140 Reading Goal, Guided Questions completed, Characterization Shee (a few examples at least!)

HW - Whatever is not completed in class!!

Friday
1) Organization!!  All your teachers are beginning to notice your binders...they're not organized!  We will take a bit of time at the start of class today to get you back on track ;-)
