1.) Notes Check - In: Deadline, Staying on top of your research
2.) Literature Circle - continue reading according to your schedule.  Please be filling out your role sheet as you read, this information will be presented tomorrow during some of your groups FIRST Lit Circle Share Out.
3.) Agenda books

HOMEWORK
1.) All note taking must be completed by Monday, 3/6/15.  Remember, you need at least 3 sources!
2.) Be prepared to speak about someone famous (real or fictional) for thirty seconds in front of the class (preferably with NOTHING written down, so practice, practice, practice!!!).

Let's talk about taking notes...

NOTES FROM CLASS:
Note Taking 101
1.) You must keep track of where you got your information.  Some techniques include:
~ using a different piece of paper (written or typed) for each source (labeled at the top)
~ separating info. on your paper (written or typed) with a heading (where you got the info.)
~ use different colors to write your information (a different color for each source)

2.) If you copy something word for word, you must put it in quotes

3.) Notes should be short, sweet and to the point

1.) Students assigned each other their roles for the duration of the Lit Circle work. Reference your role sheet in the packet before reading so you know what is expected of you and what your reading focus is.
2.) Complete today's assigned reading.

Homework: 
1.) Assume your Lit Circle Role and begin filling in your sheet in the Lit Circle Packet!  You will assume this role again tomorrow in class.

Literature Circle Prep
    I am SO excited to begin our Literature circles today, ultimately a fun book group activity.  You were given a packet to guide you the next two-three weeks in your lit circles.  You chose from the following book titles, "Courage & Defiance", "Sarah's Key", "In My Hands", and "The Bielski Brothers" and "We Are Witnesses". If you were absent today you will have the opportunity to pick your book as soon as I see you again!  Students then created a reading schedule that they agreed upon and work in their circles will continue tomorrow!
So to summarize :-)
 1.) Literature circle information (what it is and what the roles are)
2.) Assigning of books
3.) First group meeting

This week's post - Snow Week of Interruptions - February 6 - 10

This week has been a tough one!! Below is a synopsis of what has been covered, introduced and worked on this week.

Monday - Finished "The Diary of Anne Frank" movie.  You were given the article, "No News From Auschwitz" to read and be ready to discuss on Wednesday.

Tuesday - Snow Day

Wednesday - 2 hour delay -  We discussed the "No News From Auschwitz" article, were introduced to your research project and began reading the textbook story, "A Tragedy Revealed: A Heroine's Last Days".  You had two nights to decided on a research topic and to be ready to share with me your decision on Friday.

Thursday - Snow Day

Friday - Share out of your chosen research topics. (Table Talk)  Continue reading "A Tragedy Revealed: A Heroine's Last Days".  As you read, note two-three take-a-way moments that we can touch upon the next time we see each other.
