1) Revisit out theme activity from yesterday, table walk to view other groups notes on their assigned themes, add thoughts/questions/comments to their papers.  Discuss as a class

2) Open Response prep:  Choose one of the following prompts to write about.  You are given class time today to use your graphic organizer to prep you for your rough draft.  Rough drafts need to be in class with you tomorrow!!

How does our author create suspense?

What is liberty?  How does it change over time?

How does setting create conflict?

Choose 2 or 3 symbols from "Chains" and explain what they represent.  Then explain their importance with textual evidence.

How does the author use the methods of indirect characterization to create her characters?

Choose ONE theme from the book "Chains" and provide 3 examples, with evidence, of the theme in the book.
